They pay consultants thousands of dollars to aid them in marketing, take advantage of this.  Note how they merchandize their products and services. Then take a critical look at your business based on this, and update. Image is everything, are you and your service providers talking about value and available savings.

Cost Control

1. Purchase larger quantities. Discounts are available on many products when purchased as case goods; savings can be 10 to 20% and more.

2. Use purchasing software. Purchase only through a purchasing program where markup can be controlled and past purchases viewed.

3. Use efficient lighting. Light with CFC or LED bulbs, purchase high efficiency tools of the trade.

4. Automate client appointments. Use computer programs and remote services to notify and remind clients of appointments to cut stand by time.

5. Be a bean counter. Turn on inventory control in your software and question personnel when the computer quantity on hand is different than what you have on the shelf.

6. Guard against asset theft. Balance your cash nightly, do not allow closed invoices to be changed, turn record deletion off in your software.

7. Insulate and circulate. Winter is almost here, fix your front door’s side and bottom insulation, circulate warm air with a high efficiency fans. Turn heat off at night our use a setback / set up thermostat.

8. Clock and track. Require hourly employees to clock in on a computer or time clock that cannot be changed, hold overtime to a minimum.
