ClientMagic and Email Security
ClientMagic’s first priority is always our customer, your Salon or Spa, which involves providing you with information on various topics, such as; how to protect yourself from email scams impacting our industry. Recently malicious emails targeting every industry have been discovered. In light of this activity, we encourage you to take a moment to read about some of the things you can do to ensure your online safety:
Phishing email: Fraudulent emails containing malicious links sent from individuals portraying themselves as messages from legitimate companies.
- Simply opening an email should not result in any concern. Following links embedded in the email is where consumers have to be cautious.
- If you have any suspicion that the email is fraudulent do not open, and do not click on any links within the email if you do.
- The individual sending the email should always be identifiable, such as in the subject line of the email itself. If you do not recognize the sender, be cautious. Be especially cautious of more generic subject lines.
- To ensure your safety, simply type in the address of the Web site and go directly to it to if you want to check its validity.
Legitimate emails with suspicious messaging: If you do not recognize the sender do not type (or copy/paste) any website addresses into your browser.
Some additional recommendations to further protect you:
- Make sure to always use the latest version of your Internet browser, as they will check for potentially fraudulent websites when browsing the web.
- Save our known address to your safe senders list so that legitimate newsletter messages and other important emails are ensured to be delivered.
- Please continue to be mindful of the above characteristics of any and all emails you receive versus the malicious emails.
How to tell the difference between good emails and bad emails
At a quick glance after reviewing this information, you should be able to tell the difference between legitimate email notifications and emails not from us. However, we still recommend that anytime you are not familiar with the sender just manually type in the address in your search field before opening the email to view where the email is originating from.
For example: If you were to receive an ecard and not be familiar with the sender, go to the ecard website to open the card up instead of opening the link in your email.
